Fighting to Maintain the Catholic Faith Whole and Inviolate and the Line of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in This Period of Sede Vacante
The July 2013 issue of the Recusant is now available here for download.
These are my own comments regarding the latest document of the three Bishops.
I claim no authority to support the rightness or wrongness of my remarks being no more than a simple pewsitter. Nevertheless, I felt the need to express how this document can be interpreted..
“#11- This love of the Church explains the rule that Archbishop Lefebvre always observed: to follow Providence in all circumstances, without ever allowing oneself to anticipate it. We mean to do the same: either when Rome returns to Tradition and to the Faith of all time – which would re-establish order in the Church; or when she explicitly acknowledges our right to profess integrally the Faith and to reject the errors which oppose it, with the right and the duty for us to oppose publicly the errors and the proponents of these errors, whoever they may be – which would allow the beginning of a re-establishing of order. Meanwhile, faced with this crisis which continues its ravages in the Church, we persevere in the defence of Catholic Tradition and our hope remains entire, as we know by the certitude of Faith that “the gates of hell will not prevail against her.” (Mt 16:18)”
Together with preserving the priesthood, I understood that it was ONLY when Rome returned to Tradition and to the Faith of all time that Archbishop LeFebvre foresaw the SSPX to have accomplised its reason-for-being. He envisaged a seamless merger with no conditions whatsoever. I remember clearly that the SSPX’s attitude was that when this conversion of Rome came about the Society would die – the implication being that it was no longer needed once Rome was restored to sanity.
The ‘or’ in the above declaration is therefore totally unacceptable because how is the faith restored if the SSPX can criticise the Pope – which is what it amounts to. If the Pope or Cardinals are considered to ‘err’ then the SSPX demands the right to oppose them?
It is insane! The Church cannot recognise a higher authority than the Pope!
That the three bishops demand and expect to be given BY THE CHURCH the right…THE RIGHT(?)………(I am at a loss for words!).
I can say one thing for sure – I would never belong to such a Church.
Furthermore, the Pope would actually be promoting an error by bestowing such a right.
The situation of itself will never be right until the SSPX is whole again, with the return of Bishop Williamson and the outcast priests. The more I read of documents/declarations etc etc. the further away we get from the objective.
