Guest Post by Donkath

I’m not sure if I see things clearly Joseph. It may seem that way. I can only put it down to the fact that I have been terrified at a time when the Church I knew and loved had disappeared. Others who know this terrible fear may draw some strength from hearing a fellow-traveller’s journey out of it. And if other layfolk who have left the Society can contribute how they use their faith would be a good start to us helping each other. We do not need lectures from people who are not suffering this dilemma.

Fear stems from a misconceived idea of God’s judgement – the ‘fear of God’. The Church has always emphasised, rightly, that each one of us will face God’s Judgement when we die. That no-one is likely to escape some time in Purgatory except the great saints who sometimes did experience it. We are told to offer this and that sacrifice to reduce our time in purgatory. We use our faith to cope with God’s Judgement. Well and good! A sensitive and humble soul sees no end to Purgatory which has been graphically likened to a step above hell. If a just man sins seven times a day how does an ordinary soul ever get to heaven? This is not the holy ‘fear of God’.

I make this point first because I think it underlies the fear that prompted you Joseph to see if I could offer suggestions and solutions.

When Our Lord suffered the hell for each one of us he delivered us from going to hell.
If we believe that we have to progress to knowing it. Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary offers a choice between two outcomes. I may receive His Mercy or His Judgement. One or the other. No in-between. An attentive soul realises that whichever befalls him he is guilty of sin. Accepting mercy he acknowledges his sin. Rejecting mercy his sin remains with the ensuing banishment. Either way, he is a sinner. But God loves to give mercy, requiring only our recognition that we desperately need it, and that He, just as desperately, wants to pour it out on us.

Fear has the capacity to obliterate Mercy. Why do we use our faith fearing God’s judgement when we could use it to accept His Mercy? Is he going to send me to hell if I miss Mass on Sunday because I want to keep my faith, not lose it in the conciliar church? Do I see God as a legalist? Didn’t he come to free me from the letter of the law? Isn’t he insulted when I treat him that way?

All around us we hear talk, talk, talk. People these days seem to love arguing about this or that point/interpretation of theology; or have meetings telling each other brilliantly what is wrong with the world today; or how we should view the Pope who practises heresy; which society of priests should we adhere to when they condemn each other; this Catholic is opposed to that Catholic because he believes in priest A instead of priest B; that priest hasn’t got supplied jurisdiction, this one has; this Mass is valid, but not legitimate etc. etc. etc.

None of the above has anything to do with my faith. My faith is a gift from God to me a sinner full stop! Nobody can take it away from me – no-one.

How can a priest who gives Catechism classes refuse to give good Catholics the sacraments? Are we not justified in turning our backs on such a priest even if it is for the salvation of their souls? Who is left to teach the traditional faith when this generation of priests can do such a terrible thing?

In the end what is happening? Or not happening? Discussions are becoming centred on what Father so-n-so should be doing, and not only Father, mind you, but each other….my husband/wife should have done this; said that. Going aside, I had to ask myself what I should be doing. It was so easy to blame others, but it does keep fear at bay. I do not have to make decisions when I can blame somebody else, or when I abdicate my responsibilities by leaving it to the priest to tell me what to do, or not do.
The more I blame others, or leave the responsibility to others, the more I retreat into doing nothing and waiting for God to do something when all the time He is waiting for me to do something. But what is he waiting for me to do?

The answer is clear: He wants me to use my faith! Stop gabbing and take my faith for a walk….give it a workout. I do not need a theologian or whatever to tell me about my faith. I need to use what I already have. We already have our models in the courageous priests who will not be silenced. They are using their faith. This is what we have in common with them. They need us as much as we need them. If we do not join in the fight we will lose them and they will lose us. Ergo – we lose the Church! But since Christ has promised He will be with us all days even unto the end of the world, then it is only because there are people like us who keep fighting for it.
Just like the saints and martyrs have done before us. They gave their lives that we may live. Now it’s our turn.

Suggestions and solutions? All of the above. Some points come to mind:

i) Use the measure of faith that God has given me by taking the first step away from where I am being led by the neoSSPX and let Christ open doors he is dying to open for me.

ii) Stop depending directly on this or that priest, but on the ‘Priesthood of Christ’ which is present in the world til the end of time by uniting myself spiritually with faithful priests saying Masses throughout the world, whether I know them or not by praying the daily Mass at home and saying my Rosaries. Meditate specifically on the Liturgy by praying it and contemplating its meaning. Mercy and everlasting life are offered on every page.

iii) Use my faith a hundred percent to depend on his mercy. Do not waste one tiny drop of it by fearing his judgement.

iv) Use the forums to express our fears and share our faith rather than fill them up with chit chat. Have we ever heard sermons such as our heroic resistance priesthood is showering on us today?

v) Resistance forums to link up with one another. The States of a country unite under the banner of their Patron Saint then unite countries under the Kingship of Christ. The laity needs to form a worldwide unity. Get to know our fellow-fighters.

PS. I have noticed a small example of item v) on the following forum. It is a tentative start that needs to grow in strength when brave people contribute.

OPEN APPEAL TO THE SUPERIORS OF THE SOCIETY OF SAINT PIUS X

September 21, 2013

Feast of St. Matthew

OPEN APPEAL TO THE SUPERIORS OF THE SOCIETY OF SAINT PIUS X

Your Excellency, Bishop Fellay and Society of St. Pius X Superiors,

In the face of a Pope in the Chair of St. Peter, wielding the sledge-hammer like a second Goliath, dismantling and smashing what is left of the Traditional Teachings of Christ and His Mass, your silence has become alarming and has become a cooperation in extinguishing the Catholic Religion and His True Adoration from the face of the earth.

The “children” of the Society of St. Pius X have cried out for 40 years in this last hour, led by the most child-like Archbishop Lefebvre, who loved and defended his Father’s honor. The time has come for the “stones” of the street; the most unworthy, unglamorous, despised and the “off-scouring of the world” to cry out. Those of the SSPX Resistance can no longer be silent in the face of the present leadership of the Society, shamefully silent at the most necessary hour! All our letters, appeals, filial rebukes have been returned with silences, monitions and expulsions.

All of us who were alive under our saintly Founder, Abp. Lefebvre, remember his letters to the priests and faithful, his sermons crying out against the abominations of the Ecumenical Assisi Meeting, the Pope’s scandals against the True Faith and Our Lord Jesus Christ, the True God! All of us remember hearing these, like a beacon of light in the darkness of the modern apostasy. A voice of the fearless Good Shepherd roaring out, like a second David or Samson, to protect the flock of Christ from the masked wolves inside. These wolves, tearing out the Faith of Tradition and ripping out the hearts of those consecrated to God, with the fatal blows of Religious Liberty, Ecumenism, Collegiality, the baneful New Mass and all the artful lies to seduce the handful of Traditional Communities into the Conciliar Church.

The catechism teaches there is a time when silence becomes gravely imprudent, reckless and even cooperates with sin and darkness. That time is now! From the SSPX pulpits, websites, magazines, articles, etc. comes a shameful silence. A silence that uses the “liberty of prudence” as a cloak for malice, a silence equivalent to those passively standing by, while their mother is defiled and violently ravaged by the very ones vowed and ordained to defend Mother Church!

The reason for this guilty silence is now known to all the world. It is expressed in the General Chapter Statement of July 14, 2012, which was the “Vatican II Revolution” within the last bastion of Catholic Tradition. In it, the Society binds itself to the six Conditions for the canonical normalization. An agreement with whom? With the Conciliar Church! The Archbishop was never silent about the Pope’s scandals and respectfully wrote to him, defied his ecumenism and sins against the Faith, before the whole world, and even resorted to drawings showing the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II being excluded from the gates of Heaven for leading the world to believe that the gods of the gentiles are not devils, as at Assisi!

Now, Pope Francis has surpassed his predecessors in scandals against the Faith by the ecumenical call for prayers for peace from all religions, celebrating the ecumenical rite in St. Peter’s; by the unheard of scandals of World Youth Day in Brazil; with the shameful dancing of bishops who, like salt that has lost its savor, have become the laughing stock of the world, worthy to be stepped on for betraying the True God. His sweeping statements on atheists, the divorced, the Sodom and Gomorrhites, clerical celibacy, etc., etc., have misled millions of souls into error and, no doubt, sins. Sins that seem “not so bad,” since according to him, even “atheists can go to Heaven,” and “who am I to judge the gays?”

Since the new policies of the Society fit the new principles of compromise, now it has lent its hands to abolishing what is left of the True Faith and Adoration of God from the face of the earth, by its shameful silence!

It is useless to pretend that the seeking a “canonical normalization,” an “agreement,” “recognition,” a “union” with Modernist Rome can be pleasing to God, before Rome’s conversion to Tradition. The six Conditions themselves, betray the clear teaching of our Founder who insisted that we never have to ask permission to preach Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ, Crucified! That we openly preach against Vatican II errors and prelates who attack the Faith, because Christ Himself gave that command to the first Pope and Bishops. Archbishop Lefebvre would shudder with horror at the thought of the Indifferentism subtly expressed in the six Conditions and would absolutely condemn the new policy of silence and expulsion of his priests who speak out, against a false union with the Conciliar Church that is aggressively wrecking the Faith and Mass of All Time.

Would he approve of your calling the New Mass “legitimate” or “legitimately promulgated” (which is the same thing)?

Would he approve of all the statements on the Council “not being the cause of errors,” Religious Liberty being “limited,” 95% of the Council acceptable, that the teachings of Vatican II “enlighten” and “deepen” Catholic Tradition?

Would the Founder approve of your signing the Doctrinal Declaration of April 15, 2012, which undermines everything he fought for to save the Faith?

Would he approve of the acceptance of the New Code of Canon Law without the clear distinctions he laid down?

Would he approve of the personal Prelature of the Society that submits to the present Roman authorities, who he called “dishonest men” seeking to remove Christ from society? Have his warnings been forgotten when he said: “With the See of Peter and posts of authority in Rome being occupied by anti-Christs, the destruction of the Kingdom of Our Lord is rapidly being carried out, even in His Mystical Body here below…That is what has brought down upon our heads persecution by the Rome of the anti-Christs. This Rome, Modern and Liberal, is carrying on its work of destruction of the Kingdom of Our Lord, as Assisi and the confirmation of the liberal theses of Vatican II on Religious Liberty prove…” (Abp. Lefebvre, Letter to Future Bishops August 29, 1987).

Would Abp. Lefebvre even recognize his Society today when its leader says: “Vatican II is no longer in people’s heads,…fewer and fewer believe it”? “We have observed a change of attitude in the Church…towards Tradition,” or “Within the Society some (like Abp. Lefebvre himself!) are making the conciliar errors into ‘super heresies’”…or “the present situation in April 2012 is quite different from that of 1988”? That, having said and signed all these ambiguous statements, compromises and decisions, none of them have yet been rejected or condemned? None of them, neither clearly nor publicly!

Would Abp. Lefebvre look favorably on the expulsion of a bishop that he himself sent as rector of the Seminary in the USA and being fully aware of his “unpopular views,” chose him personally to be one of his bishops, as well?

Your Excellency, the grave dangers against the Faith which you have placed the priests and faithful into, by accepting what you yourself condemned 11 years ago, demand a response from your subjects. The Archbishop’s words ring ever true: “It is not the subjects who form superiors, but the superiors who form the subjects.” Now that your position is clearer, as you expressed to the Holy Father, Benedict XVI, “I committed myself,…and I do intend to continue to make every effort to pursue this path in order to arrive at the necessary clarifications, clarifications for the personal Prelature to be carried out,” knowing, moreover, that Rome has not converted back to Tradition, demands the Resistance to your boldness.

Since Vatican Council II, the Popes had a right to our resistance and disobedience because of dangerous errors on the Faith, so more and more people are seeing that you force us to do the same because of your new direction, acceptance of the legitimacy of the New Mass, New Code, Vatican II in the light of Tradition, etc. This is unheard of in the history of the SSPX!

Since you are deaf to your sons’ appeals, and fail to condemn your statements and persist to punish any who warn you or the faithful, you oblige the priests of the Resistance all over the world to pick up where you left off. You oblige us to continue the work of Abp. Lefebvre which is nothing other than the work of the Catholic Church, “without bitterness and without compromises.” The words of Our Lady of Quito, Ecuador seem frightfully so true, that “the Church will be full of those who accept compromise,” when we need to be the ones to cry out, fight, combat openly the evils of Conciliar Rome, leading many souls into apostasy and to Hell-fire. The glory of Christ the King demands it! The COMMON GOOD OF THE CHURCH demands it!

For the love of your soul, your Excellency, please hold an urgent General Chapter. Condemn the new policies and compromises with Vatican II and the New Mass. Return to the stand of Abp. Lefebvre on all the points listed above, resign yourself, and let there be a true son of Abp. Lefebvre to replace you, Fr. Faure, for instance. This alone could save the Society. Otherwise, the work of Tradition will peacefully continue, if it pleases God, in the SSPX Resistance, Marian Corps.

“If the children will not cry out, the very stones in the street will cry out!”

The Faith may be compromised and betrayed by men, but the True God does not die!

VIVA CRISTO REY!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, hasten Thine hour of Victory!

Sincerely in Christ the King,

Fr. David Hewko

SIGNIFICANT STEP FORWARD IN OUR WAR.- FATHER FAURE IS APPOINTED CO-ORDINATOR OF THE RESISTANCE

http://nonpossumus-vcr.blogspot.ca/2013/09/trascedental-paso-adelante-en-nuestra.html

Translation is from:
http://abplefebvreforums.proboards.com/thread/521/father-faure-appointed-ordinator-resistance

The information has been updated by Father Ortiz to report that Father Faure is appointed co-ordinator for Latin America.

Another update from France:

No, dear Fidelis, this is not what he told me. I do not know if I should announce it, but since someone else has announced and erroneously, it seemed useful to rectify. Father Faure is overall coordinator.

http://lefebvristes.forum-box.com/t2066-M-l-abb-Jean-Michel-Faure-coordinateur-de-la-R-sistance-sous-l-autorit-de-Mgr-Williamson.htm

Father Faure is perfectly suited to this pivotal role for several reasons:

1 – He was one of the first SSPX priests ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre and, therefore, is one of the longest-serving members of the SSPX. He has participated in every Chapter of the Society.

2 – He served as the right arm of Archbishop Lefebvre in Latin America for decades. Father Faure enjoyed the unlimited confidence of the Archbishop (for example, Father Faure was given by the Archbishop full access to his personal correspondence). In fact, Archbishop Lefebvre wanted to consecrate him bishop, but Fr. Faure refused for reasons of humility. Thanks to this great friendship and confidence, Father Faure has had the grace to know and understand our Founder as few men did or do.

3 – He has enormous experience, being the founder of the SSPX mission in Latin America: Superior of the South American District, founder and Superior of La Reja Seminary, and founder and Superior of the District of Mexico.

4 – He deeply understands, as few do, the integral Combat for Tradition and the Social Kingship of Christ against Liberalism and Modernism.

5 – His priestly zeal is tireless. He possesses a great thirst for the salvation of souls and wide counter-revolutionary experience gained over the years since his youth when he fought in the Algerian conflict.

Due to the above, we find ourselves deeply grateful to Bishop Williamson for appointing this extraordinary and holy priest to the fundamental task of co-ordinating the Resistance.

Fr Hewko – Stay away from SSPX Masses & why

Father Hewko comments on why we cannot go to the SSPX Masses, compares to the Archbishop saying not to go to Ecclesia Dei Masses, and ties it into the messages of Our Lady in Akita and Fatima. He mentions the gagging of the SSPX priests and how they have compromised. Similar sermons are given in Veneta OR (available in MP4 format) and Post Falls ID (available in MP3 format).

Fr Girouard Discusses going only to Resistance Masses

“Unbrandable” posted this message here:

http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=topic&t=27022&min=15&num=5

Below is a very good paragraph taken from an e-mail Father Girouard sent us back in August. The last part (in bold) contains some inspiring points that have to do with the problem of hearing Mass less often when one is in the Resistance.

“I think that we have to have an ignatian approach, style: Elections. We look for what is the best for the salvation and sanctification of our souls and the glory of God. Now, in the present case, for those who understand the situation and thus have the sufficient convictions, there is no doubt that the election will be to go firmly with the Resistance because the Resistance entirely opposes the errors of the Conciliar Church and of those that want to be recognized by it. We fight error because it is opposed to the truth and Our Lord is the Truth. The only way to see clearly how to act is to stand on the summits of the principles of St. Ignatius and to have confidence in God, who will know how to compensate for the lack of sacraments and school. Let us remember the principle that grace is received in proportion to the disposition of the recipient. The more one is open to do the will of God despite the hardships, the more God will fill him with His graces. The Resistant will thus receive more graces by assisting at one Mass per month, than the compromisers by going to Mass every day.”

Fr. David Hewko Says “No” to Neo-SSPX Masses

In a sermon given by Fr. David Hewko on Sunday September 1, 2013 he tells us that we ought not to go anymore to SSPX Masses because the neo-SSPX has compromised.  Here is the relevant extract from that sermon (left click to the left of the 00:00 marker to play) along with a downloadable mp3.
