The following is a good video on the pope and heresy. However, please keep in mind that the video heavily emphasizes the hypothetical scenario of a true pope falling in public manifest formal heresy. Ecclesia Militans holds to the position that a true pope cannot become a public manifest formal heretic which is Opinion No. 1 of the Five Opinions expounded upon by St. Robert Bellarmine who himself held to this position. Fr. Paul Kramer holds that to deny Opinion No. 1 is proximate to heresy.
I would like to know the name of the gentleman who did this video about Bergoglio and the papacy. I really enjoyed it and would like to know more about his site. Thank you. Pax Christi, heather
I do not know his name. Sorry.
We adhere to THE TRUTH that a POPE CANNOT BE A HERETIC.
Very good!
Beginning with the first minute 39 seconds, the presenter states, ”b. Schneider comes to the defense of [pope] francis and to the condemnation of those Catholics who say that pope can fall from the pontificate”.
Also, those who are so called condemned according to b. Schneider include POPE PIUS XII, POPE SAINT PIUS X, Father Altman, Father Kramer, Father Gruner before he died, ALL CATHOLICS who follow the teachings of JESUS CHRIST through scripture, our BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, JESUS’ theologians, saints, historians, canon laws, doctrines, infallible teachings of popes, and so forth as these are JESUS’ instruments, and therefore these are the teachings of JESUS CHRIST through HIS ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, and APOSTOLIC CHURCH.
HOW BLESSED BY JESUS CHRIST ARE THOSE CATHOLICS who seek and find the TRUTH which OUR LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST has given us FOR this time of apostasy, heresy, and all the growing evil which we face day after day as JESUS knew we would.
PRAISE, HONOR, GLORY, and THANKS BE TO OUR LORD and SAVIOIUR JESUS CHRIST – FOREVER.
Are you saying that Pope Pius XII, St. Pius X, etc. teach that a pope can fall from the pontificate?
As the MOST HOLY POPE SAINT PIUS X and vicar of JESUS CHRIST, these words jump out by way of influence-
“The Rock has always withstood the test of time. But one will be entered into the House of God. Woe to man when he places him upon the See of Peter for then, the Great Day of the Lord is at hand.” -Pope St. Pius X
For Pope Pius XII, my point of reference is the following quoted words and the links from you on Ecclesia Militans-
‘’Unfortunately, the Catacombs Forum, together with Fr. Hewko and Bishop Schneider, oppose the Magisterium of Pope Pius XII by indirectly denying that the public sin of manifest formal heresy by its very nature separates the heretic from the Church. See this post and this post in defence of my assertion.
Do you see how error spreads from the clergy to the faithful and from the faithful to each other?’’
NOT ONLY do errors spread from the clergy to the faithful and from the faithful to each other, BUT ALSO, the TRUTH is spread by the words of clergy to the faithful and from the faithful to each other. Pope Pius XII as in this case is an influence as it pertains to the SENSUS CATHOLICUS and to sound discernment. Sound discernment matters whether it involves the TRUTH from sources or the lies and deceptions from sources.
I do not hold that a true pope can fall from the pontificate because of heresy. God would not allow it. I hold to the First Opinion of the Five Opinions expounded upon by St. Robert Bellarmine. My point with the Catacombs Forum, Fr. Hewko, and Bishop Schneider is that IF (purely hypothetically speaking) a true pope can fall from the pontificate, then that pope does not incur ipso facto separation from the Church according to them. This is where their position opposes the teaching of Pope Pius XII.
That explains perfectly, and this First Position makes sense in that ”the gates of hell shall not prevail”. . . and especially that GOD would not allow it as HE is omniscient and knows from all salvation history what would be attempted by the enemies.
2 Questions-
1. Before our present times, are there any other sources who have held the first opinion as is offered by Robert Bellarmine?
2. Did Robert Bellarmine also hold the FIRST of the FIVE positions?
Thank you, in advance, for your reply.
1. “The opinion, that a pope cannot be a heretic, (the first opinion outlined by Bellarmine) is the one that is most commonly taught as the most probable by the majority of theologians and Doctors: St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Alphonsus de Liguori, Francisco Suárez, Melchior Cano, Domingo Soto, John of St. Thomas, Juan de Torquemada, Louis Billot, Joachim Salaverri, A. Maria Vellico, Charles Journet, Cardinal Tommaso de Vio ‘Cajetan’, Francesco Bordoni, Pedro de Simanca, Domingo Bañez, and Martino Bonacina – and Bonacina cites others who were of the same opinion.”

2. Yes.
